Cacao Butter

Cocoa (or Cacao) butter is made by pressing the bean of the cacao plant (Theobroma cacao). The off-white butter retains polyphenols, antioxidants, vitamins and the signature scent of chocolate. 

Cocoa butter is an occlusive emollient acting as a barrier on the skin to help prevent moisture loss. Applying cocoa butter improves skin hydration and elasticity. Additionally cacao butter offers some protection from UV light in the 3-5 SPF range. It is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. 

Cocoa butter can also help prevent wrinkles and stretch marks. It's anti-inflammatory properties make it an excellent choice for treating rashes and dermatosis, and repairing scars, including those caused by acne. 

Cocoa butter is solid at room temperate, meting at about 93-101º F; once applied it is quickly absorbed by the skin.
